Locals app video controls

Launch the app and go to the community that you want to view content from. To access the content library, tap on the player icon (shaped like a triangle) at the bottom of the screen. You will see a list of all the videos the creator has uploaded and added to the content library. You can view all, tap Playlists to see videos grouped by categories, or by ones that you’ve liked. You can also sort what videos you see by tapping “sort by” and choosing from the drop down. If you want to search for a specific video, tap the magnifying glass icon on the top right and type in key words from the video's title.

Tap the desired video to begin watching it. By default, it's windowed mode. When in windowed mode, you can scroll through the comments, like them or leave your own comments/replies while listening to the video. To go into full screen mode, tap the full screen icon in the bottom right corner.

If you tap on the video while playing, different player controls will appear. If you double tap to the right of the pause/play button in the middle, the video will jump forward 10 seconds. If you double tap to the left of the pause/play button, the video will jump back 10 seconds. If you tap the speaker icon on the bottom left, you can mute/unmute the video.

If you tap the 3 dotted line on the top right, you’ll get the options to:

Share - Tap to share a link of the video with others
Bookmark - Tap this to save the video for easy viewing later by accessing the newsfeed filter, under “Posts by.”
Report - Tap this if you feel the video is violating platform or community guidelines
View Likes - Tap to see how many people liked the video

On the top right of the video screen, right next to the 3 dotted line, you'll also see 2 smalls buttons that say "auto" (your video resolution) and "1.0X" (your video playback speed).

Auto - By default, your video resolution is set to auto-adjust according to your internet speed. If you'd like to manually adjust the video resolution, tap the "auto" button and pick a different resolution - from as low as 144p to as high as 1080p.

Not all communities have 1080p as an option

1.0X - By default your video playback speed is set to normal (1.0) but you can tap it multiple times to cycle through the different speeds - 2.0 is the fastest option at double speed, and .5 is the slowest option at half speed.

If you tap the arrow on the top left or swipe down, you’ll be taken back to the video list with the video you are currently watching minimized to a banner at the bottom of the screen. You can tap pause/play, tap X to close the video, or tap on the banner to view it windowed with the comments again.

On the bottom right you will see a square icon with a little square inside of it, the “picture-in-picture” icon. Tapping it will minimize the Locals app and play the video in a small window on your phone’s home screen, to allow you to watch the video while navigating to or accessing other apps.

You can move it around by holding it with your finger. If you use 2 fingers, you can expand/shrink the size of the window. You can tap pause/un-pause, the x to close the video, or tap the middle square to open it in the app again.

If you tap the gear icon on the top left, you’ll be shown a screen where you can turn off the picture-in-picture setting (it's on by default).
