Locals app video controls

Launch the app and go to the community that you want to view content from, by going to My Communities (the icon near the bottom that looks like 2 people) and selecting the community logo.

This will bring you to that community's newsfeed. Select a video from the newsfeed or go to the Content library to view a video (select the Content tab).

Tap the desired video to begin watching it. By default, it's windowed mode. When in windowed mode, you can scroll through the comments, like them or leave your own comments/replies while listening to the video.

If you tap on the video while playing, different player controls will appear. If you double tap to the right of the the middle of the player screen, the video will jump forward 15 seconds. If you double tap to the left, the video will jump back 15 seconds. If you tap the speaker icon on the bottom left, you can mute/unmute the video. To go into full screen mode, tap the full screen icon in the bottom right corner.

On the top right of the video screen, you'll see 2 smalls buttons that say "auto" (your video resolution) and "1.0X" (your video playback speed).

Auto - By default, your video resolution is set to auto-adjust according to your internet speed. If you'd like to manually adjust the video resolution, tap the "auto" button and pick a different resolution - from as low as 144p to as high as 1080p.

Please note that not all communities have 1080p as an option

1.0X - By default your video playback speed is set to normal (1.0) but you can tap it multiple times to cycle through the different speeds - 2.0 is the fastest option at double speed, and .5 is the slowest option at half speed.

On the bottom right of the video player, you will see a square icon with a little square inside of it, the PIP (picture-in-picture) icon. Tapping it will minimize the Locals app and play the video in a small window on your device's home screen, to allow you to watch/listen to the video while navigating to or accessing other apps.

Next to the PIP icon, the square with a small triangle, is the cast icon. Select it to cast the video to your TV. Please note that live streams can't be cast to the TV during a live broadcast (only the live replay after the initial broadcast).

If you tap the 3 dotted line on the panel near the bottom of the page, you’ll get the options to:

Bookmark - Tap this to save the video for easy viewing later by accessing the newsfeed filter settings.
View Likes - Tap to see how many people liked the video.
Report - Tap this if you feel the video is violating platform or community guidelines. To learn more, click here.

If you tap the arrow on the top left or swipe down, the video will minimize to a banner at the bottom of the screen. You can tap pause/play, tap X to close the video, or tap on the banner to go back to the video.
