How do I purchase coins on the Locals app?
What are Locals coins?
Locals coins are a type of currency that you can purchase and then give to the community you want to support, instead of paying directly with your credit/debit card. Because of how Locals is structured as a platform, the Locals coins currency was created in order to satisfy the Google/Apple in-app purchase guidelines.
To purchase coins through the app, there are 2 different routes you can take, depending on if you purchase them when accessing a specific community, or purchase them when accessing your general Locals newsfeed. If you use the first method, you'll be purchasing coins for a set amount of subscription time (which is further explained below). If you use the second method, you'll be adding a certain amount of coins to your Locals wallet, which can then be used towards a subscription or as a tip.
The first method:
Log in on the app and go to the community you want to subscribe to, and go to your Settings by tapping on your portrait icon on the bottom right. Select “Manage Subscriptions” and then tap "Monthly Support". (If you tap the + sign on the top right, it will take you to "buy coins" to add to your wallet, like the second method.)
Choose from the different coin packages. Coins subscriptions through the Locals app are a one-time only purchase, that you pay for upfront for a set amount of time and that doesn't auto-renew. You will see different options depending on the community. The choices may be for 1 month, 3 months, 6 months or (if available) 12 months. You may also see the option for 1 month of premium support (if premium subscriptions are available in that community). Choose your preferred method of payment to finalize the purchase.
After purchasing, the coins will be added to your wallet. Tap "Give Coins" to initiate the subscription and have immediate supporter access.

The second method:
Log in on the app and go to your My Newsfeed page (your general newsfeed at platform level) by selecting the "Locals" logo on the top left. Go to your Settings by tapping on your portrait icon on the bottom right.
You’ll see the Locals Wallet under Support. Tap there and then tap “Buy Coins.”
You'll see 3 different options for a coins package to purchase. Select the desired amount of coins you want to add to your wallet, tap "Buy" and then select your desired payment method to finalize. The coins will be added to your wallet. You can initiate coin giving by attempting to post, view/leave comments, view content section (if available), or come across a locked post. If tipping is enabled, you can also use coins to give tips.
