What is the Watch page and how do I set one up?
The Watch page is a new menu item you can enable on your community sites (communityname.locals.com) where users can see a more visually curated video page. You can choose a feature video, highlight some Shows (which are your playlists) and show a couple of recent videos that lead users to the more complete Content library.
How to enable this feature
- Login to your community website
- Go to the Community admin panel
- Click on the Settings tab
- Scroll down to the Watch Page section
- Change the radio button to Yes for Enable Watch Page
Configuring this page
Once you have it enabled, you will see some more options drop down
- Community Entry Page - currently, if a user enters your community URL, they are taken to the Newsfeed as the default landing page if they are logged in. If you would like to have the Watch page as the default landing page for logged in users, you can select "Watch Page" for Community Entry Page. Users can still navigate to the Newsfeed page by clicking it on the left side menu.
- Feature Video - this is the video that is featured at the top of this page. You can choose to pick a custom post to feature or select from predefined options that will dynamically update your featured video such as:
- Recent Watchable content - shows any recent post that has a video (it can be uploaded, finished Live stream or Content+)
- Recent Live Stream - always show the most recent live stream that has been processed into a video after finishing
- Recent Video - always show the most recent uploaded video
- Recent Content+ - always show the most recent Content+ video uploaded
If you select the Custom Post option, you will be required to enter the Post ID of that post with the video. Post ID is the unique number in the URL of the post you are looking to get. This custom post must have some type of video on it, you cannot feature any other posts.
- Playlists - these are optional, if you do not have playlists or do not want to feature them, you do not need to select any. If you choose not to show any playlists, we will show "Popular videos" in that part of the Watch page instead which are the most view videos on your community.
Playlists will be displayed in the order you add the playlists according to the numbers. You can only add a playlist if they have at least 1 video in them.
Make sure you click the Save button to save all of your changes.
