How do I leave a post on the Locals app?

Who and where can I post?

Only supporters can leave posts or comments in communities that have them enabled. You can create posts in the community on the app or on the community website (i.e. CommunityName.locals.com).

How to create a post in the Locals app

After launching the app, tap the My Communities icon near the bottom (it looks like 2 people). This will take you to your aggregate newsfeed that will show posts from all the communities you belong to on Locals.



From here, there are 2 ways you can leave a post.

The first method is to tap the plus sign near the lower right, and a menu will pop up showing all the communities you belong to. Choose the community you want to leave a post in, and you'll be taken directly to the community's newsfeed in the post window.






The other method, is to select a community from the list near the top of your My Communities page, which will take you to that community's newsfeed. From there, tap the plus sign to leave a post.





Note: scrolling down through the newsfeed will cause the plus sign to hide. If you don't see it, try scrolling up a little and it will reappear.


Regardless of which method you choose, you will end up in a post field where you can type your message. On the top right you will see the publish button, but it will stay greyed out until you’ve typed at least a minimum of 10 characters (then it will highlight red).

Near the bottom left, you will see a switch that says "Supporters only" that you can toggle on or off (by default it is off). Toggle this switch on if you'd like to make your post only visible to supporters. Otherwise, leave it off and your post will be visible to all members in the community.




Near the bottom right, there are 3 icons that you can select if you want to add a photo, video or poll to your post.

Once you are ready, select the Publish button to publish your post to the newsfeed.

Note: As a supporter you are limited to uploading video clips with a maximum duration of 5 mins and less than 200 MBs in size. You can upload up to 10 images in one post.
