Connecting to Spotify
How to connect Locals and Spotify
If you are a paid supporter for the Breaking Points Locals community, you can also get access to their subscriber content on Spotify when you link your accounts. Only a 1:1 connection is allowed, meaning only 1 Locals account can be connected to 1 Spotify account. If you want to connect to another account, disconnect the connection first before connecting a new one.
There are 2 ways to initiate this connection.
Initiate Connection from Locals
- Login to Locals.com (NOT THE APP) and find the Breaking Points community (or go directly to the Breaking Points community site)
- Find the RSS tab and click it
- If you are not a paid supporter, make sure you support first
- If you are a paid supporter, you should be able to see 2 options: RSS and Spotify. Click the "Connect Spotify" option
- You will be taken to Spotify's page on the browser. If you aren't logged in on your browser, you will be prompted to log into your Spotify account.
- Once you log into your Spotify account, you'll be asked to agree to a connection to Locals, Click Agree
- You'll see a confirmation page that you have access to the subscriber content
- Click into it and it will direct you to the playlist on Spotify
Initiate Connection from Spotify
- If you found the podcast directly on Spotify first and see that it's locked, you can connect from there by clicking on the Lock Icon and "Get Access"
- You'll be asked to link your Locals and Spotify accounts. Make sure you check you are indeed logged into the correct Spotify account. Click "Link Account". After linking, if you're logged into Locals on the browser and already a paid supporter, you'll automatically be directed to Step 6
- You will be redirect to Locals, if you're not logged in, you'll be asked to login first (if you don't have a Locals account, click the Sign up link instead and follow the flow). This step is skipped if you're already logged in.
- Once logged in, if you are not a part of the Breaking Points community yet, you will be asked to Join. This step is skipped if you've already joined the community.
- Once you joined, if you are not a paid supporter yet to Breaking Points on Locals, please subscribe. This step is skipped if you're already a paid supporter to Breaking Points on Locals.
- Once the system has detected that you have a paid Locals account, you'll be redirected back to Spotify. You'll be asked to agree to a connection to Locals, Click Agree
- You'll see a confirmation page that you have access to the subscriber content
- Click into it and it will direct you back to the playlist on Spotify where the lock icon will now change to a Play button
